Dear Members,
The staff of King's Grant Racquet Club is looking forward to providing its
members with an excellent tennis season. We hope that everybody has had a
healthy and prosperous winter.
This season we will be offering the same programs as last summer with a
few additions.

John Swan,
a New England USTA ranked
player in the 60 and 65 divisions, is a new addition to our excellent staff
of tennis professionals. He will be available for private and group lessons,
and also will be assisting with the morning programs. Tom Larkin, Joe Lipka,
and Zack and Alex Seigel will be returning for the 2008 season. Lea Shade,
Lee Richard and Carol Lipka will again be working in he pro shop.
Due to weak participation in the club
championship, we will instead be
establishing competitive “ladders” for men’s and women’s singles and doubles, and mixed doubles.
King's Grant RC will also be
sponsoring the Cape Cod Mixed Doubles
Championship, June 20-22;
USTA 60s and 70s Senior
Tournament,
Sept. 12-14;
Recovery without Walls Tournament,
Sept. 19-21. Last year the Recovery without
Walls Tournament raised almost $8,000 for this extremely worthwhile charity.
Last fall court #1
was resurfaced with three layers of the same
material used on the courts at the U.S. Open. Therefore, the court will be
easier on your body and have the same ball speed as a clay court.
Saturdays, May 24 and
June 14,
King's Grant will be holding Open Houses
from 1 to 4 p.m. with complimentary court time, demo racquets and prizes.
Invite your friends to view our facility and discuss our programs with a
staff member.
King's Grant has a Playmate ball machine available for rent at $10 an hour
for members and $20 an hour for non members. The ball machine is an
excellent tool for developing your tennis skills, or as a courteous,
non-derogatory partner!
Weather permitting, the Har-Tru courts should be ready for use the first
week in May. Members signing up for a full individual or family
membership by May 1 will receive a $25
gift certificate to the pro shop. Membership dues are payable at
the commencement of play.
This a big season for the Maloy Family. Courtney is getting married to a
Denver Bronco fan on July 26 at the tennis club.
Remember to visit our web site
periodically for updates on club activities and pro shop sales and to
include your email address when filling out your application forms.
Take care,
John Maloy and the pro shop staff
